to identify relevant dental, occlusal and periodontal considerations when assessing patients for clear aligner treatment.

Identify cases suitable for basic clear aligner treatment
and recognise cases that require referral or multidisciplinary input.

Explain the fundamental principles and biomechanics of clear aligner treatment
including staging, force systems, attachments, trimline design and the predictability of different tooth movements.

Assess the limitations and predictability of clear aligner treatment
including limitations relating to complex tooth movements, rotations, extrusion, root control, space closure, skeletal discrepancies and patient compliance.

Critically evaluate digital treatment plans
recognising common errors involving space creation, staging, attachment design, overcorrection and unrealistic movement predictions.

Apply appropriate principles for interproximal reduction (IPR)
including case selection, planning, safe enamel reduction, instrument selection, finishing and polishing, and minimising biological and restorative risks.

Apply appropriate attachment
and bonding techniques
to optimise aligner retention, force delivery and treatment predictability.

Evaluate the effect of aligner
design on treatment outcomes
including the influence of trimline, attachments, staging and planned movements on retention, force delivery, comfort and predictability.

Communicate treatment options, limitations, risks and expected outcomes effectively with patients
supporting informed consent and realistic expectations regarding compliance,
refinements and treatment outcomes.

Incorporate restorative, periodontal and interdisciplinary considerations into treatment planning
including tooth proportions, Bolton considerations, restorative space and appropriate referral or collaboration.
